There is an important task and opportunity to review the incoming textbooks for the core curriculum of Social Studies which includes History, Economics, Sociology, Civics, Psychology, and Government.  These books will be used for several years so we are requesting that everyone assert their right as a tax paying community member, parent, grandparent, or legal guardian, and take part in reviewing the textbooks during the upcoming review period.

It can be as simple as scanning the textbooks and the questions after each section for any inappropriate content such as but not limited to: political and religious indoctrination, inaccurate historical information, and misrepresentation of our free market system and Capitalism. You will be able to choose the textbooks you wish to review and it is suggested you keep a copy of the information you submit.

This year, there will be five (5) public reviews of the Social Studies instructional materials being considered for adoption, one meeting in each school board member’s district.  Please select the meeting that best fits your schedule (see below for details).  Contact Cheryl Taaffe at 386-478-6533 or if you have any questions.  Thanks!
